Kaan’s is the story of a young Lebanese DJ who always believed in the power of music to connect people – to transcend language, race, nation, and to build harmony.

Kaan’s passion for music began at the piano with recitals of Chopin and Debussy. His love of classical music and its techniques opened him to a whole world of compositional possibilities. Soon, he was eager to blend the avant-garde spirit of electronic music with traditional musical forms.  

Inspired by popular YouTube channels such as Trap Nation, Kaan developed an intense interest in the world of Trap Music. Listening to music fostered a sense of euphoria, an ineffable feeling that the world was good and beautiful, which Kaan wanted to share with others.

The day Kaan discovered the music video for Marshmello’s “Alone” would mark the beginning of the young DJ’s journey, inspired by the artist’s mixing techniques. In fact, it felt like becoming a DJ was an essential journey to sharing his unique passion with the world.

As time passed, 9-year-old Kaan started learning the art of DJing, discovering several YouTube DJing channels and visiting music studios in Beirut to grasp the techniques as quickly as possible. Next came Kaan’s first DJ set, the Numark Party Mix. 

At 10 years old, Kaan began his DJing career. He recalls DJing live in front of a crowd for the first time, at his cousin’s 9th birthday! Gig after gig, he built a solid reputation as a DJ at school and in the region.

Then COVID-19 hit. Lebanon was in lockdown. No more live shows. No more performances. Many people felt demotivated to pursue their dreams and goals. Not for Kaan. The confines of lockdown offered a new opportunity to grow through the power of music. Kaan started going live weekly on Instagram, mixing music for hundreds of viewers and uploading new music all the time.

Summer of 2021, fresh out of lockdown, Kaan released his very first single entitled “Sunlight Jam” on the 14th of August 2021. Dimitri Khneisser, also known as DJ DnK, was the first DJ to ever support Kaan’s music: on release day, DnK played Sunlight Jam live in front of thousands of people and invited Kaan on stage!

Kaan went on to release four more singles: Fantasy, What’s That Called Again? (with Ryan Alam), Nirvana (with Mincer), and his very own remix of Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain”. Today, Kaan has performed at festivals and community led events such as AUB Outdoors, Mondays Off, The Carnival and many more. Kaan continues to strive for the best, fueled by an everlasting desire to share his music with the world.

Many DJs feel as if they have their own style, meaning that they only spin specific music genres in a certain way. However, Kaan never felt the need to identify himself with one specific genre or mixing technique. Kaan’s identity as a DJ and producer revolves around his signature touch in each DJ mix or record he produces: every mix or original track is a pure expression of a message of love and unity that Kaan wants to communicate to you.
